Flame at Discovery Primea

Flame is an Asian fusion restaurant at the 16th floor of Discovery Primea. The ambiance was nice and the food overall was good. I enjoyed my experience and would come back.

As soon as you enter, you are greeted by this striking light fixture. The restaurant is roomy, and the atmosphere can be suited to a business lunch or a fine dining dinner. You can also go as a group, or opt for a more private nook if you are on a date.

There is a choice to go a la carte, or have the tasting menu. I took the tasting menu, but there was one dish I tried from the a la carte menu. This is the most chic “sosyal” “takeout rice” as they call it I’ve ever seen haha. It wasn’t the best fried rice I’ve ever had but it was good, and I thought the presentation was so original!

TAKEOUT LOBSTER FRIED RICE. free range egg, chorizo Macau, char sis pork, homemade “bakkwa,” grilled lobster

Before the tasting menu, there was an amuse-bouche, as is normally expected when having a degustation.

AMUSE-BOUCHE. I can’t remember what this was composed of haha, but it was good

Overall, I enjoyed the dinner tasting menu. Everything was good, nicely presented, and the right size so that I was not too full and was able to enjoy all the servings.

DINNER TASTING MENU:

HAMACHI ABURI. nori-crusted yellow tail, avocado purée, cherry tomatoes, ponzu, baby greens
PAN-SEARED FOIE GRAS. papadum, lentils, mango chutney, radish, kale.
Aside from being a nice mix of tastes and textures, the foie gras was also a pretty good size for a tasting menu and it didn’t feel like they were scrimping

SWEET CORN RAVIOLI. ginger, scallions, tinapa brown butter
STEAMED LAPU LAPU. squid, mussels, coconut rice, raisins, seafood broth
JOSPER-GRILLED RIB-EYE. potato pavé, sautéed shiitake & hon-shimeji, button mushroom discs, asparagus, porcini purée, Madeira mirin.
This dish was a bit on the sweet side, but I still enjoyed it.
CHOCOLATE MARQUISE. Hazelnut praline, ice cream, vanilla foam, fresh berries.
The ice cream here was originally “black pepper.” I got scared of the sound of it and had it changed to vanilla haha. I tried it though from someone else and it was ok. Although I still preferred the vanilla
