Osaka – Japan

OSAKA CASTLE

Osaka Castle construction began in 1583, under the Toyotomi rule. In 1615, the castle was attacked and destroyed by Tokugawa forces, which also proved to be the demise of the Toyotomi clan. The castle was rebuilt by Tokugawa Hidetada in the 1620’s, but it was struck by lightning in 1665 and was burnt down once again. Only in 1931 was it rebuilt.

a moat surrounds the castle
high palace walls made with huge rocks
zen atmosphere all-around…hahaha fitting place to use that description 😉

KURUMON MARKET

The Kurumon Market, which began during the Edo Period in the 1600’s, is comprised of 150 shops where you can buy fresh seafood and meats. In some stores, you can even have your food cooked and you can eat it right then and there!

non-food items can also be found in the market as seen behind me
the famous – or should I say infamous poisonous puffer fish!
scallops cooked at the market
baby octopus on a stick

DOTONBORI

Here are some lively and colorful sights, which are typical of the Dotonbori area, which is known for it’s vibrant nightlife scene.

my attempt at an artsy picture hahaha
popping signboards like these all over

UNIVERSAL STUDIOS

Universal Studios is not unique to Osaka as we all know, but it’s always an entertaining place to visit!

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Butter Beer – yummy!
yummy fast food here! and this sign just makes me happy!
Best fried chicken ever at the Happiness Cafe! Even the rice was good! And how cute is that SpongeBob dessert??
funnel cake – my fave! I have to have it every time I go to a theme park!

These last two are random pics from my Osaka trip, but I just had to post them!

first time to have sake from a wooden cup! can’t remember the name of the restaurant though hahaha

and last but not the least, look who we bumped into at our hotel! Vice President Leni Robredo! we just had to have a pic!
