South Africa 1

I decided to share my trip to South Africa with you in chronological order. So I’m starting off with day 1 in Cape Town!

The minute we stepped out of the airport, we had a view of the majestic Table Mountain.

First stop of course, the hotel! We stayed at several places during our trip, but first was The Commodore Hotel, our home for the first 10 days. I instantly loved the old-world, cozy, lodge-type look of the lobby.

The Commodore Hotel Lobby

The bedroom had a different and more modern look from the lobby, but I really liked it too and was very comfortable!

Our first lunch was at the Quarter Kitchen (formerly Quarter Deck) at the Portswood Hotel, near the Commodore Hotel. Here are two of the most interesting things I tried:

Springbock Carpaccio – light and delicious

I loved this dessert so much! It was partly sweet, caramelly, gooey and chewy, and had a unique taste combination that I can’t seem to describe. We had this dessert in other restaurants, but the one at this restaurant was the best.

Yummy Malva Pudding

The weather was perfect that day, and since it was our first day, we just took a relaxed easy walk around the V&A Waterfront area. I also realized that we seemed to have a view of Table Mountain everywhere haha!
