Totem Hotel – Madrid

Totem Hotel was recommended to me, and I was not disappointed at all! So much so that I have already stayed there three times. It is a cozy boutique hotel, with great service and delicious food. An added bonus is that connected to the hotel is a really good restaurant El Pimiento Verde. It’s also really practical that between the lobby bar and Pimiento Verde’s opening hours, you can pretty much eat anytime of the day, and don’t have to follow Spanish eating hours, which helps a lot especially for tourists. It is also located in a very safe area in Salamanca, which is a stone’s throw from numerous very good restaurants. It’s also just a 10-minute walk from the beautiful El Retiro Park.

cute wallpaper at the hotel lobby
a cozy separate area at the lobby perfect for meetings or private social gatherings
natural light fills the lobby bar
a comfortable place for socials, meetings, or having a drink or yummy food whenever you want
El Pimiento Verde, a yummy resto that can be accessed from the lobby bar of the hotel – you don’t even need to step out of the hotel
I love this wooden staircase! I try to take the stairs whenever possible, especially when they’re this beautiful!

I stayed at the 2nd/3rd smallest room, but there are bigger rooms than this in case you need it. I liked the design of the room and it pretty much had everything I needed, but I just wish there was more closet space. Also, the side tables I wish had drawers instead, not aesthetically but practically speaking.

I wish the sink was a bit bigger
I wish there was a full sliding door or curtain because the water would spill out, but I guess that’s a European thing
this cracked me up when I saw that this is how they say “do not disturb” in Spanish!
